Train to Busan (2016) Review



Train to Busan… what a movie. A whole lot of action, drama and horror jam-packed into one of the most suspenseful and exciting movies I've ever seen.


Based in South Korea, this film takes place in a bullet train en route to Busan from the capital city, Seoul. Passengers on the train struggle to survive as a zombie virus breaks out and spreads through the country. The film surrounds fund manager, workaholic and single father, Seok-woo and his young daughter, Soo-an through their battle to make it out alive.

It takes us on a journey of emotions, with the writers and director imaginatively creating an amazing film around an idea so simple and predictable like zombies on a train, completely shocking us viewers, keeping us on edge the whole time through it's ingenious and innovative execution. I really enjoyed watching this movie and would definitely recommend it to others.

Disney 'Beauty and the Beast' (2017) Review

Disney's live-action  Beauty and the Beast  isn't bad. How could it be? It's basically a remake of one of the greatest animated movies of all time. It's when it tries to be different that it stumbles, and those problems drag down the good parts where it gets hard to overlook its flaws, making you wonder if you should just watch the animated version again. The film's music acts as a microcosm of this problem. In almost every song from the original movie, they have added an orchestral dance break. Those breaks keep the songs from reaching a natural climax and, for anyone who knows the original movie — it is extremely distracting. Yes, the musical numbers look great, but just as you're getting into them — bam, a sudden drop in energy for a completely unneeded dance number. This happens in the plot as well.
